MuSe – a recently constructed science museum in Trento – contrasts strongly with the historic buildings so prevalent in Italian cities. I found it interesting that this building, with its sleek, modern architectural style, actually seems out of place after so much exposure to centuries-old establishments. Architect Renzo Piano’s mastery of design is evident not only on the exterior, but in the interior as well. Large, open rooms showcase Trentino’s diverse ecology, as well as that of other parts of the world. Displays of plant and animal life ranging from the High Alps to tropical rainforests and dinosaurs of the distant past make for an experience that is both entertaining and educational. MuSe is definitely worth the visit, especially since transportation to Trento and admission to the museum are free with the Trentino Guest Card.
