Our region just received its fourth UNESCO recognition for the unicity of its territory. On November 17, the new label “UNESCO Global Geoparks” was created to support the already existing Global Geoparks Network (GGN), an international group of geological heritage management entities. Dolomit partner Adamello Brenta Nature Park is one of those prestigious institutions. The initiative intends to foster collaborations across national borders in the challenging task of making natural conservation compatible with sustainable development.

Earlier this year, an older and larger UNESCO project, the Man and the Biosphere Program, was also extended to Trentino. Last June, the Ledro Alps and Judicaria district, an extremely diverse area that in a few miles spans from 10,000 feet high Dolomitic peaks to the Mediterranean shores of Lake Garda, was included in the list.

These recent achievements add up to the two multi-region UNESCO World Heritage Sites in which Trentino already plays a major role: the Dolomites and the Alpine Prehistoric Pile Dwellings.

Dolomit is not only proud to operate in such a privileged stretch of the planet, but is also committed to its preservation and improvement as an open-air laboratory for committed international students and visitors.
